Group management
1. Open group details
Open the conversation menu (⋯) in the top-right corner of a group chat and choose Conversation details / Group info. You can see the group name, members and your role.
2. Roles and permissions
| Role | Main permissions |
|---|---|
| Owner | Rename, invite/remove members, transfer ownership, dissolve the group |
| Admin | Help manage members and group details |
| Member | Send messages, invite members (subject to the UI), leave the group |
3. Common actions
Rename the group
Open Group info, click the group name, enter a new name and save.
Invite members
Search in the Group members panel and click Invite. The member joins after accepting.
Remove a member
Owners/admins click Remove next to a member and confirm.
Transfer ownership
The owner selects Transfer ownership on a member and confirms. The previous owner becomes a regular member.
Leave the group
Click Leave group at the bottom of the group info. You stop receiving messages from the group.
Dissolve the group
Only the owner can do this. Dissolving permanently deletes the group, removes all members and cannot be undone.
4. Session settings
From the conversation list or menu you can:
- Pin / unpin: keep the conversation at the top.
- Mute / unmute: disable notifications.
- Hide / unhide: remove it from the main list; find it under “Hidden conversations”.
- Delete conversation: delete the conversation from your account. Your local and server-side chat history is deleted and cannot be restored; other members are not affected.
5. Channel management
Channels are similar to groups but have different publishing rights:
- Only the channel owner/admin can publish.
- Other members can subscribe / unsubscribe.
- The owner can dissolve the channel; this cannot be undone.
6. Notes
- Dissolving a group, deleting a conversation and resetting encryption identity are irreversible. Read the confirmation prompts carefully.
- End-to-end encryption keys stay on your device. Export a key backup before changing devices. See the FAQ.
